This conference aimed to bring together practitioners from the GSCB partner agencies. The event provided the opportunity to explore issues around working with child sexual abuse, including taking a more proactive approach to preventing, identifying and responding to concerns about children who may have been sexually abused.

Over 130 delegates attended the conference, representing a wide range of agencies including Children’s Services, schools, health organisations, Police, Probation and the voluntary sector.

The conference was facilitated by Nicky Pace, the GSCB Independent Chair. The keynote speakers were:

Donald Findlater, Media Spokesperson for Lucy Faithfull Foundation

Graham Ritchie, Principal Policy Adviser for Child Sexual Abuse, Children’s Commissioner Officer

Henrietta Quartano, Head of Quality Improvement Service, Children’s Services, Royal Borough of Greenwich

The event featured a performance by the Creative Blast Theatre Company’s innovative production 'Keep it in the Family'.

During the afternoon session there were four different workshops for delegates to choose from:

1. Making sense of offender behaviours to prevent and manage risk

2. Supporting the non-abusing parents - the child’s greatest support

3. Working with harmful sexual behaviours in adolescents

4. Beyond disclosure-working with children who may have been sexually abused
