Multi-agency training

Welcome to the Greenwich Safeguarding Children Board’s Multi-agency Training and Development programme. On this page you can find the training schedule for this period and the information you will need to choose, book and evaluate a GSCB training course. This programme has been prepared to meet the learning and development needs of all those who work with children and families in Greenwich.

Which course is right for you?

To ensure practitioners access the appropriate course for their role and level of responsibility the GSCB has mapped all courses against the training groups outlined in London Safeguarding Children Board's training framework for London –“Competence Still Matters” (2013). These groups do not correspond to vocational or academic qualifications. It is the role of your manager to determine what training you should access.

We hope that you will take full advantage of the opportunities in the 2018-19 GSCB Training brochure.

Course applications

To apply for a course you will need to register with our online booking system on the following link:

The booking system has many features to save delegates time by allowing them to simply and effectively search for and book onto relevant courses, access all pre and post-course information required, including costs, trainer details, location information and any whether any other occurrences of that same course are taking place, as well as accessing your training history and downloading certificates.

If you have a question about the application process, you can also contact the GSCB business support officer by telephone on 020 8921 5713 or by email on

Charging policy

This training is funded from the annual contributions made to the Safeguarding Children Board by its constituent agencies. All training in this brochure is free of charge to any person employed by one of the GSCB partner agencies or a not-for-profit organisation in Royal Greenwich.

There is a charge of £100 per full day or £50 per half day session for applicants from independent and private sector organisations, free schools, academies and for all agencies outside the borough.

As part of its commitment to developing the Greenwich children's workforce, the GSCB offers bespoke training to independent, private, third sector organisations or other service providers. This is developed with the commissioning organisation to ensure that the training takes into account the unique nature of their role. We can provide bespoke in-house training for your organisation on a range of topics, including safeguarding children, domestic violence, child sexual exploitation, parental substance misuse, child trafficking, e-safety and safer recruitment.

All participants will receive hand-outs and a certificate of attendance after attending the course. Please contact us if you are interested in arranging an in-house training session (see contact details below).

Cancellation policy

GSCB courses are normally oversubscribed and we usually have a waiting list outstanding. If, for any reason, you are unable to attend a course, please let us know at least five working days before the event so that your place can be offered to someone else on the waiting list. If you cancel your place less than 2 days before the event you will receive a late cancellation fee of £80 for a full day course or £40 for a half day. You may appeal the fee if this cancellation was due to factors beyond your control, in order to do so you will need to write to

Failure to attend a course without prior explanation or apology will result in you or your agency receiving an invoice for a non-attendance fee, which will be equal to the cost of the course (£100 for a full day or £50 for a half day). Your non-attendance will also be reported to your line manager.

Delegates may also provide a replacement from their own agency but would have to provide written confirmation of this to the GSCB.

Ten key safeguarding training courses are  available on Me Learning's easy to use website – ideal as a refresher or induction for new staff and as a supplement to other types of learning. Most courses take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete – but if time is tight, you can dip in and out multiple times and it will remember where you left off. The courses are available for free to all staff and volunteers within the GSCB network. Successfully complete the simple quiz at the end of a course to gain your certificate

Please see  the GSCB training brochure or download the flyer for more details on how to access these e-learning courses.

We recommend you also visit our GSCB Annual Conference page to access all the presentations from previous events.
